This sandwich is a popular street food in the south of Iran and it's my new favorite way to consume hot dogs. This recipe comes together quick and is an absolute flavor bomb, especially in a sandwich with my not-so-traditional scallion-dill mayo. Gangster. Sandwich.

Ingredients

Sosis Bandari

400 g / 14oz beef sausage or vegan sausage (preferably Frankfurter or Wiener style)

200 g / 7oz potatoes (optional)

4 medium onions, sliced

8 cloves garlic, minced

1 fresno chili (or chili of choice)

4 tbsp tomato paste

½ tsp turmeric

½ tsp paprika

½ tsp coriander

1 tsp chili powder

½ tsp black pepper

Vegetable oil

Baguette for sandwich

½ head lettuce, shredded

Pickles

Sliced tomato

Salt to taste

½ c water

Scallion-Dill Mayo

1 c mayo

4 scallions, thinly sliced

1 bunch dill, finely chopped

Zest of a lemon, juice of half

Generous pinch salt

1 tsp fresh ground black pepper

1 tbsp dijon mustard

Directions

Sosis Bandari

Step 1

Over medium high heat, sauté sausage, potatoes (with a generous pinch salt), and onion (with a generous pinch salt) in separate batches until nicely colored. Add more oil in between each batch as needed. Add everything into one large bowl when ready.

200 g / 7oz potatoes (optional)

4 medium onions, sliced

Step 2

Add garlic and chili into the same pan over medium heat with a pinch of salt. Once aromatic and starting to color, add tomato paste, black pepper, turmeric, paprika, coriander, and chili powder. Sauté for a few more minutes before adding a 1/2 c water.

8 cloves garlic, minced

1 fresno chili (or chili of choice)

4 tbsp tomato paste

1 tsp turmeric

1 tsp paprika

1 tsp coriander

1 tsp chili powder

½ tsp black pepper

½ c water

Step 3

Add sausage, potatoes, and onion back and combine well.

Step 4

Make a sandwich in baguette with sosis bandari, scallion-dill mayo, pickles, and tomato.

Step 1

Combine everything in a bowl and thoroughly mix until combined.
